CERIK President

Leading think tank for the construction industry in Korea

CERIK strives to be a research institute that contributes to the growth of construction firms and raises the competitiveness of the construction industry.

The construction industry, which has driven rapid economic growth, is now facing a new era of transformation.

Some of the major challenges faced in the construction sector include the revitalization of smart construction, the rise of environmental and social governance (ESG) for construction companies, the adaptation to climate and environmental changes, as well as other unprecedented changes driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the increases in the construction productivity, and the management of the rapidly aging social overhead capital (SOC) or the national infrastructure.

CERIK aims to address these challenges through creative and innovative research, as demonstrated by the statements listed below.

  • CERIK will establish an industrial ecosystem led by the private sector with government support.

Private firms are eventually the driving force behind employment creation and economic progress.
To contribute to national economic growth and prosperity, CERIK will conduct focused and disciplined research aimed at developing an industrial ecosystem in which construction firms lead the growth and revitalization of the industry with government support.

  • CERIK will perform research that contributes to improved quality of life.

The built environment in which people live has a significant impact on their quality of life, which makes construction a vital industry.
Thus, CERIK will conduct extensive research that prioritizes the well-being of the people in areas ranging from SOC to residential housing, as well as the maintenance of aging infrastructure to ensure public safety.

  • CERIK will proactively prepare for the future growth of the construction industry.
