In Korean construction industry, there has been rapid demand increase of safety managers due to strengthening of various safety regulations including the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. Therefore, it has been very difficult to find capable safety managers for construction companies. Especially, small and medium sized construction companies, which are relatively less competitive in securing and maintaining new manpower, are experiencing a lot difficulties in finding safety managers. In this paper, we investigated the current status of supply and demand problems of safety managers in construction industry through survey, and suggested the effective supply measures to respond current increased demand for safety managers.
